Despite afternoon and early evening thunderstorms yesterday, the rain stopped just in time for the 7pm opening and what followed was a wonderful night at Peterborough Lido.
More than 130 swimmers came along to enjoy a late-night dip in the warm, sparkling water beneath the night sky. Adults, young people and families travelled from near and far, with some making the journey from as far afield as Suffolk and Yorkshire, especially to experience a Midnight Swim in Peterborough lido.
The unsettled wet weather certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm. Instead, it seemed to add to the atmosphere, creating an evening filled with laughter, excitement, friendship and plenty of magical moments.
As midnight approached, the pool lights shimmered across the water and it was time to close the gates. It was lovely to see everyone leaving with huge smiles, sharing joyful comments about what a fantastic evening they’d had.
Old friends met up, new friendships were made, and more special Lido memories were created together.
