Vivacity Peterborough Lido hosted a highly informative conference on Tuesday 23 June 2026, bringing together enthusiasts and professionals to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Peterborough Lido, one of Britain’s finest heated open-air swimming pools.
The day began with a presentation from the Friends of Peterborough Lido, who shared the story of the organisation’s beginnings, its aims and objectives, and the challenges and successes it has experienced over the years. This was followed by an illustrated history of the lido, charting its development from its opening in 1936 to the present day. The Friends of Peterborough Lido were also promoting and selling their commemorative publication celebrating the lido’s 90-year history.
Attendees then enjoyed presentations from Vivacity Peterborough Lido Management Team, Emma Pusill and Janet Wilkinson, co-authors of The Lido Guide, and Tom Fort, author of Lido Land, who shared their knowledge and insights into Britain’s lido heritage.
The event provided opportunities for networking, a guided tour of the lido, and concluded with a relaxing swim in the stunning Art Deco surroundings
