Monday of this week, Clare and I took a trip to the Glinton Friendship Club held in the newly renovated village hall in Glinton.
‘Friendship Clubs offer a place for older people to meet up, have access to information and advice and other community activities such as day trips and outings but most importantly, a place to chat and enjoy each other’s company. The clubs are independent and run by volunteers, with Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough support and guidance’. – Age UK Cambridge and Peterborough.
We had been invited to present our History of the Lido slideshow as their mornings guest speakers. Two members of the of group, Chris and Pam made us very welcome and helped us set up using their brand-new projector and screen. Many of the ladies had fond memories of going to the lido as youngsters and some of the images clearly brought back precious memories for them.
Feedback from the group, following the presentation included “I really enjoyed the presentation made me want to take a trip to the Lido again”.
“We really enjoyed learning about the history of the lido and would have liked more time for questions and answers”
Clare and I really enjoyed meeting the members of this very welcoming Friendship group and would like to thank them for their donation to the Friends of Peterborough Lido.
