Peterborough Lido’s Big Birthday Weekender!
Live music, swimming and family fun – Peterborough Lido are hosting one big pool party this May to celebrate turning 90!
With soulful acoustic sets for early morning swimming, nostalgia from the GB Home Guard Band to full-on soul and funk with Peterborough favourites The Contacts and Groove Cartel. The celebrations promise to take party-goers back to the Lido’s heyday with swimming, music and dancing all weekend. In addition to the live music the Lido will host a Midnight Swim, fun family Swimming Gala organised by the City of Peterborough Swimming Club, the opportunity to check out the world of sub aqua and peek into the famous Lido clock tower and delve into the Lido’s fascinating history. Sunday visitors can adorn their finest “swimming related” fancy dress for a chance to win free swimming.
The party takes place from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st May. Vivacity told us: “Peterborough Lido’s 90th celebrations have already kicked-off with the early season opening. We are now busy making final preparations for our fun-filled birthday weekend. The Lido is a unique venue to host live-music – the pools will be open so visitors can choose to swim, dance or just relax with friends on the terraces, all whilst soaking up the rich heritage of the city’s (and one of the Uk’s) most iconic outdoor swimming venues. We are expecting tickets to sell out quickly, so encourage people to book early to avoid disappointment”.
