To celebrate 90 years of Peterborough’s iconic Lido, Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery has curated a captivating exhibition. A timeline corridor, created in collaboration with Vivacity and the Museum, and enriched with historical contributions from the Friends of the Lido, brings the site’s rich history vividly to life.
Memorabilia and photographs—some long hidden within the Lido itself, alongside contributions from Peterborough Swimming Club, the Sub Aqua Club, and several senior swimmers—combine to create a truly memorable experience for visitors.
A video screen presents a continuously looping slideshow charting the Lido’s 90-year history. Visitors are invited to sit, watch, and reflect, as well as read personal recollections shared by swimmers. They are also encouraged to contribute their own memories, adding to this evolving story.
The book The 90 Years of Peterborough Lido, written to bring together the Lido’s history, is available to purchase in the museum. Proceeds from sales go to the Friends of the Lido in support of the Lido’s future.
