The play ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ was first published in 1602 and is recognised as unique among Shakespeare plays as its setting is a small English town as apposed to his more exotic locations.
A Synopsis:
‘Sir John Falstaff decides to fix his financial woe by seducing the wives of two wealthy merchants. The wives find he sent them identical letters and take revenge by playing tricks on Falstaff when he comes calling. With the help of their husbands and friends, the wives play one last trick in the woods to put Falstaff’s mischief to an end’.

This year Mask have split the six performances over two weeks.

First Week Review.
The Mask theatre’s brilliant actors, performed a modern version of Shakespeare’s comedy ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ over three barmy evenings at the Lido. What could be more magical than watching these performances, with a picnic, under the stars, in the mini amphitheatre of the Lido grounds surrounded by trees. And what fabulous weather it has been for them.

The first three performances of the first week have been given great positive responses from the audience as they left. One of many positive reviews after last night was from Becca, Gillian and Medina, who came to the Mask’s performance at the Lido for the third year running. Last year, asked what they thought of the performance they thought ‘it was a brilliant evening’, saying they would definitely be back. Sure enough they were back last night and had this to say at the end of the evening. Great to see you again and see you again next year if not before.
The option to book a midnight swim immediately following the Friday night performance was a magical ending to the evenings entertainment.

With three more performance nights to go on the 17th, 18th, & 19th, why not come and experience it yourself. Tickets available at- www.seaty.co.uk/merrywives2025
