The announcement today from Peterborough City Council and our MP that the Lido will open this year comes as extremely welcome news to all.
The FoPL Committee would like to say a huge thank to everyone who has taken the time to respond to the Peterborough City Council budget consultation document, written directly to the PCC, their local councillors, and Member of Parliament. Also, for the many positive and constructive posts on our Facebook platform, our website.
Thank you also to Future Lidos. Deborah Aydon, Co-Founder and Director of Future Lidos provided a formal letter of support and encouraged lidos across the country to support us by responding too.
We would also like to thank Katherine Arnott MSc occupational therapy student and her supervisor Dr Hannah Spring for producing the executive summary which endorses the health and wellbeing benefits of open-air swimming at Peterborough lido from the heart and soul of those who swim there. here.
As a result of our efforts, representatives from the FoPL committee have been invited to a meet with senior council representatives and councillors early in February to look at future visions. We will continue to meet with Peterborough Limited/ PCHLL to help make your voices heard and to vigorously support keeping the lido open and accessible for all, not just this year, but sustainable for future years to come.
Please keep an eye on page on our FoPL website and Facebook page for more updates.
