Despite the bleak weather this morning, members of the Friends of Peterborough Lido came together for their post season, members only swim, this afternoon. High up on the lido clock tower Walter (our weather vane) was pointing to the West showing it was a chilly East wind but the sun did try to break through, although rain was expected. This didn’t deter the swimmers young or not so young.

First in, Steph and Emily not missing another opportunity to train for their marathon swim at Serpentine Green, Hyde Park this Sunday. You can still sponsor them if you wish to.

…and just arrived but taking time for a pre-swim chat down at the “West End” …Usually the most sunniest spot after a morning swim. But not today sadly.

Pauls 94 year old Dad sits snuggly on the bench.
Swiftly changing into swimming togs Paul, Steve, Howard and Nick are about to dive in.

Barbara, Jane, Pat, Veronica, Jeanne and Wendy are happy to be in the water. It’s lovely and warm in there!

Jeanne, Paul and Maggie after their swim. The second swim of the day for Jeanne! now just time for a warm shower and a coffee.

And here’s Bill, one of our FoPL members who shared with us that he is the same age as the lido … 88 years young! He started swimming here 78 years ago when still at school. Great to see you today Bill… putting some lengths in.
Jane Callaghan …wrote “It was a great swim. Thanks Vivacity Peterborough Lido”
and finally…Jemma Keegan added “Lovely celebration swim after another lovely season”. Thanks Vivacity.
