With a last push to prepare then tomorrow, we’re open!
March 31st and volunteers from the Friends of Peterborough Lido have been busy all week helping the Lido team with cleaning, painting, weeding and getting the lockers ready in preparation for the official opening tomorrow Saturday
Members of the Friends of Peterborough Lido enjoyed their pre-season swim this morning despite the relentless rain. (After all, you can’t go swimming without getting wet).
It was great to be back in this fabulous pool.
A big thank you from all of us to the Lido management team.
…And now a few images and words from posts made during the first fortnight of April…
01/04/23. Opening Day
The weather wasn’t very kind, but the swimmers were queuing outside, waiting for the gates to open for the first swim of the season this morning.
Friends member, Bill Marriott, pictured below in his 1930s swimwear, his traditional outfit for his first swim of the year.
It was lovely to see returning swimmers and also great to welcome lots of new members joining the Friends today.
New Friends member Sophie Etheridge – Adaptive Athlete, is the Founder of Adaptive & Disabled Open Water Swimmers.
Sophie told us “It’s really great to have a lido that’s fully accessible – I shall be training here this season for my first solo English Channel swim, which is to raise awareness for swimmers with disabilities”.
We will be cheering you on for that later in the year Sophie.
