At 4.30 am this morning swimmers arrived to take part in the Summer Solstice early morning swim. Despite heavy cloud and the threat of rain, enthusiastic swimmers were undeterred. Almost all tickets were sold over the 3-hour session, and the sun did show its face for a brief moment as it came up through the clouds, over the East lido balcony. What a glorious start to the longest day of the year!
A hearty cooked breakfast was on sale, prepared by the Lido café, for swimmers to enjoy!
The opportunity to swim at sunrise was perhaps even more special this year, following last year’s closure under Covid 19 restrictions. The evening swim to mark sunset, will take place from 7pm to 10pm. Tickets have sold so quickly that additional tickets have been released. So, there is still time to go online and book your sunset swim, to join us in celebrating the Summer Solstice.🌞
