Individual membership scheme launched by Historic Pools of Britain today (Wednesday, 11 March) Historic Pools of Britain (HPB) is launching a new individual membership scheme for those with a passion for supporting the nation’s historic pools. As well as enjoying member benefits, individuals will be helping to support the vision of Historic Pools of Britain, which wants to develop further the support that it can give to historic pools and lidos across the country. Annual membership is £48. This includes a HPB pin badge and an invitation to attend two Historic Pools of Britain events each year, which take place at different member pools across the UK. The events give members the chance to find out more about the fascinating story of each pool, as well as featuring guest speakers who give an insight into a specific area of historic pools and their history. Members will also receive exclusive vouchers featuring free swims, discounts and tours from HPB member pools and lidos including Jubilee Park Woodhall Spa, Peterborough Lido, Sir Doug Ellis Woodcock Centre, Victoria Baths, Brockwell Lido, Hinksey Pool, Park Road Lido and Newcastle City Pool. Gill Wright, Founder of HPB, says, “To grow the impact and voice of Historic Pools of Britain the support individual members can give us will make a huge difference, particularly in the work that we’d like to do with community campaigns that are seeking to save vulnerable pools. And just as importantly, membership will be about celebrating historic pools by giving people opportunities to discover, explore and enjoy them.” With HPB as a leading player, the nation has been celebrating a revival of historic pools and lidos in recent years for the role they play in the well-being and health of communities, as well as for their architectural significance as national treasures.
