Primary to Seniors

It June 27th, 11am. It’s a beautiful cloudless sunny day. The Lido waters are 26/7 degrees. The laughter, shrieks and squeals of children enjoying themselves could be heard from the car parks. ‘Oooh, you’ve got a school in today’ I remarked to the lass on reception. “there’s about 85 of them in there.’ came the reply. The school, one of the many City primary school had brought their pupils for a fun day out and having fun they were. Not so easy for fitness swimmers but we managed. Good to see the youngsters enjoying the three pools of the Lido instead of being cooped up in the indoor pool. Hopefully if they’ve had fun they’ll get their families to come along for a swim time during the school holidays.

The second cause for celebration today was over lunch in the nearby Central Park where a small group of morning Lido swimmers met up to celebrate one of our  senior lido regulars 89th birthday. His card was signed by all the morning Lido regulars but sadly only a few of us were able to get to the Park.

Happy 89th Birthday John Reynolds.
